Mitchell D. Terk, M.D.
Mitchell Terk was born and raised in the New York area. He completed his undergraduate training at Emory University in Atlanta, where he was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa. He then returned to New York City and attended the Mount Sinai School of Medicine, where he also later completed his training in Radiation Oncology. While at Mount Sinai, he was elected Chief Resident and served as a representative to the Medical Board. He was also nominated to serve on the Executive Committee of the New York Roentgen Society. Following completion of his Residency training he moved to Jacksonville to join his family, who had relocated here in 1993.
Dr. Terk's special area of expertise is with prostate brachytherapy and stereotactic radiosurgery. He routinely performs 250 – 300 prostate implants each year. He is an internationally acclaimed lecturer on this topic and has presented personal research at major medical centers and a myriad of conferences. He has been involved with training scores of physicians throughout the world in the Real-Time Technique of prostate seed implantation, and in intraoperative dosimetry. He is certified in various stereotactic radiosurgery procedures including Gamma Knife and Cyberknife. He has also published research on breast, gynecological, and gastrointestinal cancers. He is Board Certified in Radiation Oncology by the American Board of Radiology, and holds the academic rank of Clinical Instructor of Oncology at the Mayo Clinic Medical School.
His personal interests include the arts, vintage automobiles, and international travel. He was elected a member to the Explorers Club in 1991. He enjoys spending time with his wife, family, and his two Australian Shepherds.
