We normally see our patients for a routine check-up at 4 to 6 weeks after completing treatment. In an effort to provide you with the most efficient care, routine follow-up with us will generally not be required after this visit. This is only provided that you see your other physicians regularly and contact us if you have any problems or concerns. We suggest that you continue to see your medical oncologist, surgeon, primary care physician and any other specialists involved in your care on a regular basis. You should undergo all normal screening tests and examinations recommended by your primary care physician. The following tests may be ordered by your physicians for surveillance of your cancer:
While severe side effects following external radiation treatment are quite uncommon, occasionally they can occur as late as 2 - 3 years AFTER completing treatment. It is very important that you notify your other physicians of your prior radiation treatment BEFORE you undergo any treatments or tests from them. |
