This revolutionary technology was first brought to Northern Florida by FROG in the 1990’s, and FROG has more experience than any other organization here in the use of PET/CT in the clinical management of cancer. This machine is often used in the initial staging, treatment planning, and follow-up of various cancers, and allows us to be much more precise in our treatment delivery. PET scans can often pick up early spread of cancer well before any other scans, x-rays, or MRIs, allowing us to fine-tune our treatment fields to aim at your cancer while sparing normal nearby tissues.

Because of their sophistication, as well as the presence of many microcomputers, these machines sometimes require either routine maintenance or, at times, unscheduled servicing that may disrupt the treatment schedule. We will try to make other arrangements during those times by rescheduling your appointment and attempting to minimize your inconvenience.
