Dwelvyn L. Simmons, MD
Dr. Simmons was born in Abilene, Texas. Later his family moved to Tallahassee where he completed high school and then attended the Florida State University. Upon graduation, he attended medical school at the University of Florida in Gainesville. He completed his medical degree in 1994, and then traveled to Atlanta for a year of Internal Medicine Internship at Emory University. He returned to Gainesville to complete his Radiation Oncology Residency and a Fellowship in Gynecological Brachytherapy. He subsequently was appointed to the faculty of the University of Florida as an Assistant Professor of Radiation Oncology in 1999.
In 2002, he joined the Florida Radiation and Oncology Group. He currently serves as the Director of the Florida Cancer Center – Orange Park. His clinical interests include Head and Neck Cancer, Gyn Oncology, Breast Cancer, Radiopharmaceuticals, IMRT and Image Guided Radiation Therapy.
Dr. Simmons is Board Certified in Radiation Oncology. He is an active member of the American Society of Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology, American Society of Clinical Oncology, American Cancer Society, as well as many other national and local medical and professional societies.
Outside the office, he enjoys life with his wife and two daughters. He is active in his Church. Other interests include hunting, skiing, and traveling.
